reptan turned to the urgals, then to the people "quickly, barricade the borders of the town but leave that area unfortified!" he shouted to the panicking people, there were only about 200 urgals in this probe attack, they could fend this off with releative ease. he raised his hand to the urgals and sought out the mage that controlled a group of them. he found the mage and gained controll of his mind and uttered a death word, then easily got into the minds of the urgal warriors and uttered another deathword, killing about 30 urgals in total. "brisingr" he muttered and a few of the urgals caught fire. he raised his sword ready for them.

Shay freed herself from Fafnirs mind, and whispered 'brisingr'. A small flame leapt onto her javelin, and she hurled it again, "REISA!"
Several Kull in front of her looked surprised as they rose into the air, only to be snapped up by Fafnirs mighty jaws.

"Brisingr!"Veloce said, lighting her spear-staff,"Thrysta!"she yelled, throwing the spear.The spear head was surrounded in a silver and blue flame.It struck the ground,making the grass aroudn it burst into flames, engulfing the urgs nearby to ashes."Reisa!"she commanded the spear the rise and it shot back to her hand before she wheeled aroudn and struck an urgal in the chest.

Ammy spiraled into the sky, arrows being fired at her,but bouncing off her tough,leathery hide.She bent her neck to aim at the urgals before realising a jet of white-hot flames.

viper let out a long jet of flame, ocillating forcing the urgals back or to death. reptan cleaved a head with it he decapitated another, then swung it into anothers chest. whilst pulling out his sword he slit a forth urgals throat with his knife.

Veloce quickly sheathed her sword and jerked her spear down.A curved blade,shaped like a crescent moon,shot out of the other end.She twirled the double-bladed spear aroudn her head before running forward, at the same timedecapitating a number of heads.

reptan stabbed a mage through the throat, then killed another 25 urgals just by getting into their minds and using a death word, there wern't many left now and the townsfolk were firing arrows into the ranks of urgals, this fight was almost over.

Fafnir opened his maw an let a great burst of flame issue from it. It incinerated most of the remaining Urgals. Shay was delighted.
Fafnir, you blew fire! She cried in delight, tossing her javelin into an Urgals chest. Fafnir roared in triumph.

viper breathed a jet of flame incinerating an urgal and reptan lopped off an arm that was coming at him and sidestepped the urgal, then arced his sword up decapitating the last urgal. he wiped his sword and put it in its sheath. "they noticed the weakspot, theres an urgal on watch thats now running back to its allies to tell them the news, and we'll be ready next time".

Veloce's eyes scanned the hill, she coudl faintly see a speck , running."Not if I can help it.."she muttered, before pulling out her bow and firing and arrow straight towards the figure.It struck and there was a cry of pain then silence.Then there was a huge cheer from the villagers,"THEY'RE DEAD!!!!"they cried joyfully, "HUZZAH,HUZZAH, HUZZAH!!!!!"

Nearby ammy had landed.Veloce ran up to her,"Ammy are you ok?Are you hurt?"she asked.
I'm fine Velocewas the reply.Suddenly she let out a huge roar of triumph.At that moment the sun moved out of the clouds, lighting up the town.There was a cheer again.

reptan sighed "no we wanted him to get back, so the urgals would know about the weak spot and then we could have ambushed them, we'll have to do without now i suppose" he said, "well done on the fight by the way" he walked over to viper you were magnificent he thought to her, she beamed with pride.

Veloce made a face.Little did she know that the urgal she had shot was not the messenger....The messenger would now be on its way to the king....

Mistress was surprised. She'd been in the very centre of the battle and not one of the urgals had touched her. She hadn't even needed to draw her bow. It was amazing! "Reptan! That was brilliant! How did you learn all that?" Mistress said. "By the way, I don't have a name, they call me Mistress." Viper, you were... er... How do you comment on battle skills? Bjartskular said.

reptan turned to her, "nothing once you know how, the death words don't take much strength from you, other than that its just sword fighting" he said, then picked up the short sword and held it out for her "now mistress, you're gunna need to learn how to fight". viper looked at the young dragon best word is firestorm she thought simply.

Just do your best..Ammy said to Mistress and her dragon.Veloce nodded and sat back against Ammy's flank, folding her arms.

Shay sat against Fafnir, a smile on her face. She patted the great shoulder, and he blew out smoke from his nostrils. She glanced at her companions.
"We should warn the elder." She said. Fafnir looked at Bjartskular.
Can you carry a human on your back? He rumbled at her.

Mistress took the sword feeling she much prefered distance attacks with arrows, but she was ready to learn.
At the same time, Bjartskular said, I can hardly fly, no human or elf in the case of Mistress, can fly upon my back.

"the elders will already know from whats going on, and the urgals will come soon so the best way to handle the time is to prepare and train". he turned to mistress, "fortunatley you have the speed and strength of an elf so you have an advantage over urgals, although the larger ones might pose a threat". he took two branches and quickly fashioned them into wooden swords, he gave one for mistress, "this is something all riders need to learn even if you are better at archery or spellcasting, now attack me" he said calmly.

Mistress had only watched sword play before, so didn't know how to hold a sword properly, not even how to stand. She knew some tactics but they had never been put into practice. She lunged for his neck, where she'd aim an arrow, as fast a she could(which was pretty fast being an elf) knowing it'd be useless against a trained rider.

reptan moved his head sideways, his swordarm was free to hit her but he didn't, "good, but lunging isn't the best way to beat an opponent, if it doesn't kill them then you have to react incredibly fast to stand a hope of blocking their next attack" he said, then added "fortunatley others make this mistake so ill teach you how to counter it, either parry or dodge this lunge" he lunged at mistesses shoulder, not full speed but quite fast.

Shay glanced at Veloce. She was bored of this, wanting the big battle to start already. She heard a screaming roar, and saw, above her, Santanis, a massive black dragon belonging to the current leader, Fayt 'Doomfighter'. She sighed. The dragon circled back to the roosts, most likely to tell Fayt about the urgals.

Trying not to be distracted by the roar, Mistress parried. She then pulled one of the only tricks she knew. She wasn't even sure where she'd seen it, but she managed to dip her sword slightly and brought the hilt into Reptan's stomach, sort of. She misjudged her distance and fell short, having to bring the sword quickly up into a guarding position. Mistress was at least safe in the knowlege, that at least she knew some moves. Luckily, she also knew the original sideways stance for balance. How she knew, she didn't know. She'd never watched someone pull the pattern of moves she'd just done before, "Umm, what just happened? Is something wrong? I just heard something."
