The Ultimate Sacrifice(Final Fantasy X)

"Erino!" a voice said. Erino stopped and the ball fell lifelesslly to the ground. A woman dressed in black hurried across. "What have I told you? Never use your talents where others will want to harm you!"

Sarys saw Erino's mother, Lulu coming towards them, and she shrank away. Even though she knew the Black Mage would never hurt her, she was still slightly afraid of Lulu's gothica appearance, with her dress made from belts, and her red eyes. Erino's father was nicer, kinder, Wakka was a good man, and Lulu was a good woman, but the two contrasted each other like chalk and cheese.

Wakka ran behind Lulu.
"Lulu, stop hammering the boy!" he said. Lulu whirled around to him.
"Wakka, don't encourage him!" she yelled. "You know he can't practice it without my supervision!"

Sarys gave a silent smile at the parents argument. For some reason, it looked hilarious to her. She shook her head, trying to rid herself of the thought.
"Rikku, dammit waitup!" Sarys heard her fathers voice, followed by an unmistakeable whoop from her mother. As they came into view, Rikku and Gippal stopped. They saw the argument from the other side of the path. Gippal panted and leaned on the wall for support.

Lulu and Wakka stood there arguing. Erino looked to Sarys for help. He saw Rikku and Gippal and waved to them.

Rikku waved back to her daughter and Erino energetically. Motherhood had increased her energy if anything. Gippal grinned at them, his one eye*he has an eyepatch* sparkling.
Sarys glanced at Erino, trying to hold back her laughter. She pointed to a rock formation above the cliff, hoping that Wakka and Lulu were too involved in their argument to notice them.
She sprang up, grabbing a foot hold and a hand hold. She clambered to the top.

Erino nodded and dashed out of sight before Lulu and Wakka had time to notice that their son was missing.

When Sarys reached the top of the cliff-like rock, she stood on the ruins, and looked out to where the sun was reaching its peak. The clear sea reflected it. She sighed. If Hatred could only be defeated by the Final Aeon again, then she should cherish her time in Besaid.

Erino saw Sarys and approached slowly.
"Hey, you alright?" he asked, noting her mood.

Sarys sighed again. There was no fooling Erino. She heard the shouts of laughter from Cory and Domino in the background.
"Just thinking...about what's to come. Will I die or what..." She trailed off. The wind whipped her hair around her face, and she hugged herself self-consciously.

Erino put the Blitzball down and went over to Sarys. He put a hand on her shoulder and squeezed gently.
"You'll be fine. Promise," he said.

Sarys was comforted by Erino, but still she gazed out at the waves. They crashed gently onto the shore.
"But we don't know that. Noones ever defeated it before." She murmured.

Tanrith gazed into his sphere again, his face showing a sort of madness that his father had had. He chuckled to himself. Then, he spoke, low and fast.
"Hatred-Go to Besaid. Take them. The parents. Force her onto her pilgrimage. I cannot wait for stupid people to decide when. This is my world now!" He snickered quietly. The red monster, lying beneath the sea, bellowed its agreement, before shifting,and floating serenely away.

"Your Aunt defeated Sin," Erino reminded. "I hope I just master all the things that mum has taught me, as well as dad."

Sarys turned and grinned at him, her sudden change of attitude surprising herself.
"Sure ya will! Only, if I have to listen to that priest talking about Aunt Yunie and how great she is one more time, I swear I will kill myself!" She giggled.

Erino smiled, laughed and looked at the waves.
"Come on, we'd best go. Bet mum and dad won't be happy with me," he said. "Cory and Domino sure are crazy!" He heard their shrieks of delight.

Sarys smiled, and a flicker of longing flashed through her eyes.
"They like each other. Properly. But until Domino quits being so unemotional, noones going to be happy for them." She said. She jumped down, and whistled to her friends. They darted over to her.
"I think we should go back to the village, lovebirds." Sarys stated. Domino blushed and mumbled something incoherent, while Cory gave Sarys a mean look.
"I'm needed at the temple..." Sarys mumbled. Gippal heard this, and rolled his eyes. He wasn't keen on Yevonites. Rikku bounced on the balls of her feet.

*Was wondering Erino and Sarys could fall in love?*

"I'll come with you," Erino said. He picked up his Blitzball. "If I'm to become your Guardian then I have to come!"

*Yup, okay!*
The four set off for the village, and it wasn't long before they arrived. Rikku and Gippals tent had machina cluttered in small piles outside it, and as people passed, they looked at it disdainfully. Paine and Yuna were sparring, Yuna using Tidus' Brotherhood sword as they practised. Yuna soon left the battle, and hugged a surprised Cory. Yuna was a bit over affectionate, Sarys thought. Paine, however, inclined her head to her son, she being Yunas opposite.
Sarys grasped her lance*staff...whatever...* from outside her tent. She turned to her friends.
"C'mon. Don't wanna be late." She said.

Erino smiled. Lulu and Wakka waved to their son from their tent. Erino caught up with Sarys.
"They must've made up again!" he said. "They're weird!"

"Parents... a whole different species of human... I bet I never get to be one someday!" Sarys grinned. As Cory and Domino too caught up, they entered the temple. The priest eyed them.
"Lady Sarys, your friends are not allowed here for your training..." He couldn't hold back a sneer. Sarys noticed, and her grip on the spear tightened.
"They're my guardians...sir" She emphasized the 'sir' a little too much, and one man turned.
"Impudence!" He bellowed. Cory frowned.
"In-what?" She asked.

"We want to see how Sarys does!" said Erino. "We are her Guardians and that means staying whether you like it or not!"

"YEAH!" Cory yelled for good measure. Domino nodded. The priest was taken aback.
" But if you all go, then we lose our whole young population!" He complained. Sarys looked away, silent.
"No you won't.My mom's pregnant..." She said softly. She left them with that thought, and ran to the training room. She still hadn't got her own head around it yet. Would her parents still love her? She wasn't sure.

"Good luck, Sarys!" yelled Erino. "Hope you become a Summoner." He said that more quietly.

*Quick switch to what happens while the kids are in the temple...Godmoding Lulu and Wakka*
A dark shadow passed over the top of the village. People looked up and screamed. Hatred hovered over them, its form menacing and superior. Wakka yelled in alarm. Yuna took charge of the screaming people.
"CALM DOWN EVERYBODY!" She shouted. At the powerful High Summoners voice, the villagers quietened. Yuna looked around authoritively.
"All of you, into the temple. Take the children. Look after them." At this point, Yuna looked at Rikku.
"You should go too."
"No way! I'm fighting!" Rikku said determinedly. Yuna stared at her. Then she nodded.
From inside Hatred, a certain blue haired ex-maester chuckled.
"Nobodies fighting..." He said malevolently. A tendril came from Hatreds back, and sent a warp hole at the parents. With screams, all eight of them were dragged inside Hatred.

The ground shook. Erino looked to the Temple doors.
"Mum..dad!" he said.
