Moonchild nodded and hovered a bit higher.
"And I'll be with you when you do," he said.

Swiftfoots face betrayed no emotion, but she was crying inside. She strode out of her fathers room, and to the audience chamber, where all five hundred Shadowfighters, save the Perinii warriors, were seated. They stopped talking as she entered, with a mix of awe and confusion. She strode to the stage and climbed up.
"Today has been a terrible loss. We have lost many of our friends and family members. We have been wounded far more than we should have ever been. We should never have fought the Dreadnought.
I am with you in your mourning. Dragonfang, our leader, and my father, was killed by internal bleeding a few moments ago. And so it is with a heavy heart, that I assume position as leader." She announced. Nobody clapped. Nobody cheered.

Moonchild and Star were behind Swiftfoot and noticed the silence.
"Hail, the new Queen!" Moonchild cried out. Star echoed the words.

Someone took up the call. And then someone else.
The whole crowd began chanting it, and Swiftfoot was amazed. She looked up, as people cheered her name over and over. She felt claustrophobic, for some reason, and ran from the room, tears streaming down her face. She didn't stop running until she had reached the outside, and the teardrop crystal. It was raining. The sky was grieving too.

Star told Moonchild to go to her while she and the remaining Witches saw to the injured. Moonchild saw Swiftfoot crying next to the Crystal Tear.
"Swiftfoot," he said gently, flying to her.

"I-it's so hard....I'm not ready yet. I wish I had been the one who had died. It wasn't his time." Swiftfoot whispered. She hated being so helpless. She whacked the Crystal Tear with her sword, oblivious to Moonchild.
"WHY!?" She yelled, attacking the tear with all of her might.

Moonchild rushed to put a shield over the Crystal Tear. He then went to Swiftfoot and hugged her.

Swftfoot carried on hitting the tear, even though her sword did no damage. She strapped her knuckledusters onto her fingers. She began to punch the statue instead.
"Feel my pain!" She yelled at it.

"Swiftfoot, stop!" he yelled. He was hugging her from behind. He didn't want her upset. "Please!"

Instead of stopping, Swiftfoot turned. She looked at Moonchild.
"You have no idea what I am going through. No idea." She whispered, trying to be mature, although the tears kept coming. They trickled down her face. She raised her sword, perhaps to attack Moonchild, but instead she collapsed into his arms.

He let her sink into his arms and cry freely.
"Shh, it's ok. I'm here," he said as hes stroked her head.

Swiftfoot didn't say anything. There was nothing to say. She could communicate with Moonchild without words. Her sword clattered across the ground, coming to rest at the body of Dragonfangs Perinii.

Moonchild hugged a little tighter and gently kissed her on the head.
"I'm grieving too but we have to be strong. For our people," he said. He caressed her head.

Swiftfoot sat up, with a look of resignation on her face.
"You're right. For they are not my people. They're ours. If we are to marry, then you will be King." She said. She looked him in the eye.
"Are you ready for that? You don't have to go ahead with the marriage if you don't want to. Star likes you, if you'd rather have her."

All while she had been hitting the statue, Kani had been curled up in the corner, grieving too for the death of their leader. Her master had been kind, and had brought her up from a pup. And now he was gone. Finally, she let out a small whimper.

"No, I'll marry you," he said. "If you'll have me that is." He looked at her, unblinking.

Swiftfoot looked away, embarrassed.
"I always wanted you. Even when we were small. Kids used to bully me, because I was home tutored, remember? But you always came to my defence." She said softly, a hint of a smile on her face.

He smiled and quickly kissed her on the lips.
"When do you get married then?"

Swiftfoot was about to answer him, when she heard a snuffling noise. She turned, to see Kani, the mysterious spirit wolf, whimpering. She walked to the wolf.
"It's okay. We'll pull through." She said, petting the animal, "Right, Moonchild?" She stood up, and embraced him.
"We'll pull through. We have to."
Then she pulled away.
"We can't marry until my father is buried. It would feel wrong." She said.

"Behemoth," Ebony spat, standing up on Myth's back. Her new found confidence had effected her greatly, and stirred something in her. Anger, Excitement...and revenge?

She didn't know why she felt such hatred for the beast, but she trusted her heart. Myth gave a dragon grin and snapped his strong jaw down evilly.
"For the lost comrades," he roared, hurdling himself at the behemoth. Ebony clamped her eyes shut.
"Uatra!" she whispered, a phrase used to ask the Dragon Gods and past Leaders to watch over them.
She lept at the foul beast, slashing it's rough skin with her little daggers.

*You know Swiftfoot and Moonchild are getting married? And Dragonfang is dead, so Swiftfoot is queen?

The Behemoth shrieked in terror as Ebony slashed through it's ear. Despite the size of the daggers, they were amazingly strong.
She whistled to Myth and he flipped her back onto his saddle, then breathed fire in the creatures disgusting face.
"We need more help!" Myth told his partner. "I'll call the others."
He threw his head back and bellowed.
